Anyone want to go see this over the weekend? It's been getting some solid reviews, and having read and enjoyed the story years ago, I figure it should make for a good viewing experience.

  2. I'm all about seeing it. Maybe we can set something up, but I do have some school shit I need to do this weekend too.

    Let us know.

  3. You tell us when, we'll there. Of course, it'll have to be after the Tech's game.

Figure late Saturday afternoon, early that evening...you know, 5ish or something.

Can grab a quick meal beforehand, possibly. Let me know if that's kosher, and I'll check showtimes. Probably best if we all order tickets online, since it's a new release, etc.

There's a 7 PM showing tonight, if people still want to do this. 7 PM at Discover Mills that is. The one after is at 9:50. There's also a 7:45, but it's the 3D version of the movie.

Good ol' Colonial 18 has a 6:50, a 7:40, and a 9:40. I'd check that Regal 24 off 85, and I'd also check the Mall of Georgia theatre...if they both didn't suck so much.

Just figured I'd throw it out there if people were wanting to go.

  6. So...

    How was the movie?

  7. It was okay... to me, it would be more of a rental... i that. But I'm a girl. I think it was more of a man's movie except the great view of Beowulf's chest for a good 5 minutes.

It was solid...the CGI was quite good...the look of the land and the scenery was great. And some of the action sequences were good too, particularly the final battle scene.

There were a couple times where the CGI was a bit disconcerting...I mean, seeing CGI versions of people that looked THAT much like the real thing was kinda funky in a way. I think they would've been better off not using the actors faces as models for the CGI versions of their characters.

With movies costing $10 per person to go see now, they have to be REALLY good for me to feel it was worth it. If these were the $7.50 or $8 adult ticket days, I'd be totally satisfied. For $10, I wanted a bit more, but I was somewhat satisfied.

  9. Yeah.... he was satisfied seeing a naked version of Angelina Jolie... even if it was in CGI.
