  1. I know there are some issues with it currently, like the inability to delete messages, but I want everyone to check it out and tell me what they think. Also feel free to suggest changes and if you find bugs, let me know.

I want to see an orgy of private messaging in the database come tomorrow!

Link is on the front page (or will be about 5 seconds after I post this)

  2. Delete function made. Next on the docket: Reply function

  3. Got a reply function in place that's working pretty well, but it broke the damn new PM link! Working on it

  4. Ok, both reply and new are now working. Need more testing!

Smilies still need work, that should be a quick fix.

I also have a little image I'm going to put next to unread messages so not only do you know which messages you haven't yet read, but you'll know when your sent PMs are read by the other user.

The last thing I know I need to do is make sent PMs deletable by the sender for 1 hour after sending, or until it's been read. This is to allow you to change your mind about sending someone something.

Beyond that, I need more ideas or suggestions! If I don't get anything soon, I'll just write docs for it, zip it up, and put it out as a plugin for the bbpress community.

    So do your part!

  6. Thanks for coming over to help test, Trent

  7. So could you explain what you are doing for this exactly?

  8. What do you mean? My plugin installs a new table in the database for private messages, then deals with sending and receiving PMs using that database.

  9. I figured that out from the code in the forum, that is why I assumed that while PM'ing between members it would send a notification to the user saying a new PM is there waiting. What I can't figure out is where is the PM link and page? I seem lost.....

  10. Go to the front page of the forum and it's on the left under "Views"

It doesn't send the user an email at this time. I'd rather hold off on that til a later date. I MIGHT make a popup for the current release, it depends if people think that's really important or not.

  11. As soon as you release this or if you need to test this out on another system in the meantime, let me know!

  12. unseen image is done. That pic came from Tim, so if anyone doesn't like it, I'm game to use a different one. It's just gotta be small so it doesn't make the table rows too large. I think the current pic is fine though, if no one has objections.

  13. Ok, I changed my mind on when you're allowed to delete sent PMs... you can now delete them as long as they haven't been seen by the person you sent it to. And that is working

  14. Alright, had to make a change to the emoticon plugin, but now smilies are working for PMs.

The last thing I'm going to do (unless anyone has anymore suggestions) is to make a "Send PM to this user" link in the profile.

    Posted 3 years ago #
  15. Changed my mind about the profile since that's not really pluggable. I can add it for rayd if you guys want it, but instead I put the option to PM someone at the bottom of their posts. Click that link and you'll go directly to a page where you can send them a PM.

Without any further suggestions, I'm going to start making it into an actual plugin.

  16. This thread is like Josh's internal programming monologue--in print.

  17. Shush you

    Posted 3 years ago #
  18. So does that mean it really is incredibly boring?

  19. Question: does sending a PM add to our post count?

ps, some of these smileys suck. bad

all need to be thrown in the wastebasket

    Posted 3 years ago #
  20. PM does not add to post count.

  21. When you click on PM This User, it shows you the message form, but below it is the header and footer with the error for not being able to see that message. This happens on my forum as well as your's. Any ideas there?
